The L1 Land-Water-Environment Portal

Course Content

The L1 TEE program aims to introduce students to the major challenges associated with Earth and Water Sciences from the very start of their bachelor’s degree. As such, several course modules address issues related to resources, global change, pollution, and the evolution of Earth and life.

The L1 TEE program also helps students brush up on their skills in general subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and earth sciences. These TU TU specifically TU to accommodate the diverse backgrounds of students coming from their senior year of high school.

Several support programs have been established to promote student integration and success at our university.

Success Plan

The L1 TEE offers several programs designed to promote student success and address their challenges.

In the first semester, a TU titled“Careers in Earth, Water, and Environmental Sciences”allows students to explore their career goals, thereby fostering a sense of purpose and motivation.

For students who are struggling from the very first assessments, a student tutoring program will be launched midway through the first semester. A master’s or doctoral student will then work with a group of students who are struggling.

In the second semester, students in the following situations will have two options:

  • If students are considering a change of major, a refresher program will allow them to strengthen their knowledge in key science subjects over the course of 6 to 8 weeks, so that they can include this information in their ParcourSup application.
  • If the challenges are too great but students wish to continue in the Faculty of Science, the second semester will be scaled back (10–15 ECTS credits instead of 30 ECTS credits) to make room for targeted remedial instruction focused on the difficulties encountered in certain TU long-standing knowledge gaps. This will allow students in this program to prepare TU the second round TU and spread the acquisition of first-year (L1) knowledge over two years.
