This program builds on a degree program that, for the past 30 years, has brought together the expertise of the University of Montpellier to address specific issues related to coastal areas and the sea.
Overview of the Master's Program in Coastal Water Management
The goal of this specialization is to provide multidisciplinary theoretical and practical training in the planning, management, and protection of coastal and maritime areas. It draws on courses in the sciences, law, geography, and economics. It serves a dual purpose: professional training and research.
The training focuses in particular on knowledge of:
– maritime occupations and coastal activities (fishing,
aquaculture, shellfish farming, etc.)
– socio-economic stakeholders in the coastal zone
– the administrative and legislative framework for coastal
and maritime
matters – methods for managing and protecting coastal ecosystems
– engineering principles for the construction
or rehabilitation of coastal or port facilities
– specific risks associated with the coastal zone
